Hideo "Dale" Yamauchi 山内

HDY Consulting Founder and Principal Hideo “Dale” Yamauchi has practiced various engineering disciplines in the United States and Japan for 25 years.  A native Japanese who has spent nearly half of his life living and working in the US, Dale brings to his clients a unique cultural familiarity with both US and Japanese business practices. 

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the highly respected Keio University in Japan, Dale gained valuable experience as an Apprentice Engineer with a high-tech firm in Japan before he moved to the United States.  He subsequently spent several years as a Design/Development Engineer in both the food and machine tools industries. 

He went on to work as a Project Manager in the pharmaceutical industry and then as Director of Business Development for an architectural and engineering firm, where he managed the design and construction of several major pharmaceutical plants.

After forming HDY Consulting in the mid-1980’s, Dale has focused on supporting US and Japanese businesses in the steel industry, particularly in the Steel Belt along the south shore of Lake Michigan in Illinois and Indiana.  His one-of-a-kind blend of cultural understanding and blunt, honest advice has helped his clients do business more efficiently and effectively and has earned their respect.
